Angel, oh?

I should’ve done more. That sentence rang in my mind as I interviewed Angelo during the final week of vacation. Sense was brought unto me at the back of my mind as I spoke to him on that rather warm afternoon in my uncle’s kubo in his yard in Tarlac.

Who’s this guy, anyway? He’s my uncle’s out-of-school assistant in his Auto Shop. He’s turning twenty this March 10 of year 2011. He’s the eldest of five siblings.

Why’d I choose him? I chose him because he’s inspiring due to his hardwork and his determination to help out his family even if he really wanted to return to school. His father is unable to work due to sickness while his mother is jobless, therefore, leaving him as the breadwinner of the family.

Furthermore, I am inspired because he has a pure heart, a humble soul, and a simple nature. He also strives for excellence in all he does so that "it's worth all the trouble," he says in Filipino with the Kapampangan accent. Indeed, every time I see him, I remember my commitment to be a better student and to alleviate the people from poverty, especially those in the rural areas.

So, what’s his story? He stopped schooling in Aguso High School in Tarlac at age sixteen. He stopped because his parents told him. Although he didn’t welcome the idea of stopping school at first, he saw and half-expected this due to the ailing condition of his father. It was first difficult for him to take on the responsibility but he found satisfaction in seeing his parents not worry so much with all the expenses. Besides working in my uncle's auto shop, he also worked as a delivery boy for RC Cola and as a helping hand in the Antique Shop business of his kin, of which reside on the other side of the highway.

He wants to be a mechanic someday. He’s already on step one because he’s working under my uncle. He wants to work even harder and learn more on the tricks of trade so that someday he can help his family even more.

As for his family, he hopes to have his siblings finish school. As for his parents, he wants them to see him stand up on both his feet. As for his education, he still wants that diploma.

I wasn’t let down by what they say about him. Each word they said was true to what was said. Indeed, inspiring he is.

Who to interview?

The supposed purpose of this blog is to have my VE requirement fulfilled. It had me thinking, though. What if I continue on this? May be I could quip up a good post or two. Anyway, here we go.

I don't really know who to interview. Seriously, I'm here in Tarlac and have been on vacation for a good two weeks. I haven't really given much thought of who to interview. Although, I hear recommendations from my family, especially from my uncle, about this guy named Angelo.

I have had an acquaintance with Angelo way back. And I did share some moments with him but not that deep to get to the get-to-know-him deep. I see him working very hard and indeed there was word that he was hardworking and really humble.

In a few moments, I'll get my interview. I hope it works out well :D
